Police are investigating a serious crash involving pedestrians on Erie Avenue in North Tonawanda. The crash happened around 8 p.m. Friday during a classic car show in the Harley-Davidson parking lot. Witnesses said the driver was leaving the lot when the classic car’s throttle became stuck, causing it to strike a tent filled with people.A 65-year-old Lockport man has pleaded guilty to making a materially false statement during a federal investigation into hazardous waste dumped at a Niagara Falls property. Michael J. Hale, 65, of Lockport, pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara to making a materially false statement, according to U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo. The charge carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.The New York State Department of Transportation is advising motorists that Interstate 290 (Youngmann Memorial Highway) eastbound in the Town of Tonawanda, between Colvin Boulevard and Niagara Falls Boulevard (Route 62) will be reduced from three lanes to one lane from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, to facilitate bridge repairs.
