A ribbon-cutting was hosted Saturday to commemorate the opening of the Kenan Civic Arena in Lockport, a multi-million-dollar facility that leaders say is the largest capital project in the Kenan Center's nearly 60-year history. The 70,000 square-foot space, which was largely funded by private donors, sees the addition of a fitness center, turf field, sport courts, and classrooms to the Kenan Center campus.Law enforcement received a call around 2:05am on September 4th after reports of a large fight outside the Wagon Wheel bar on Niagara Falls Blvd. in Niagara Falls.The 911 caller, a third-party, told police that he was driving along Niagara Falls Blvd. and observed a large fight outside of the Wagon Wheel. Several individuals were brawling in the roadway. Punches were flying and the men were wrestling. It is unknown what precipitated the altercation.Law enforcement received a call around 7:53pm on September 3rd after reports of a violent home invasion on the 1200 block of 96th Street in Niagara Falls.The 911 caller told police that a male broke into her residence and was “beating on her.” The male was known to her but would not leave the apartment. At the time of the call, he was still on location.

He asked the woman – described as white, thin and 5’ tall – if she was okay, to which she looked at him and punched him on the side of the face.Law enforcement received a call around 9:40pm on August 24th after reports of a gang assault in the area of Niagara Street and 20th Street in Niagara Falls.The 911 caller, a third-party, told dispatch that multiple men dragged a male into a brown house and said they were going to beat him.Police responded to the scene. It is unknown whether the suspects were located and arrested.Hunters in Niagara County will be able to continue using rifles to hunt big game until at least October 2028. Following Gov. Kathy Hochul's review, the allowance, which was passed earlier this year by the state legislature, was signed on Friday.The allowance was set to expire on October 1 of this year, but will be extended until October 1, 2028, under the newly signed act.The 2026 Olcott Beach Car Show will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, at Krull Park, located on the shore of Lake Ontario in Olcott. Celebrating its 36th year, it is the largest one-day car show in Western New York.The show features rare and original muscle cars, exotics, customs, tuners, and race cars. A Niagara Falls man is facing several charges after allegedly leading deputies on an overnight chase that ended in the parking lot of the Buffalo VA Medical Center, Officials said a vehicle fled from police after driving away from an attempted traffic stop on Niagara Falls Boulevard around 4 a.m. Thursday. Michael W. Oden, 51, has been charged with third-degree unlawful fleeing an officer in a motor vehicle.The Kenan Center, located in Lockport, NY, is wrapping up construction on its $16.5 million civic arena facility that will encompass a fitness center, turf field, computer lab, art studio, sport courts, concessions, classrooms, and a front desk to the Kenan Center’s campus.The first woman elected as Niagara Falls mayor has passed away. Irene Elia died this week in Hospice care. Elia was elected to office in 2000 after a career in nursing. This case happened near the city of North Tonawanda on August 20.The Lackawanna City School District is pushing back the first day of school for students by almost a week. Students will now have their first day of classes on Tuesday, Sept. 8, instead of Wednesday, Sept. 2, as originally planned.One person was hurt and one person was charged after a car went into a building on Southwestern Boulevard in Hamburg early Friday morning. Police said a man, identified as Luis Alberto Hernandez, was involved in an argument with a woman in a Walmart parking lot sometime after 4 a.m. Friday.
